Ukrainian artist Anastasiia Podervianska is part of Transcending Boundaries, an exhibition created in collaboration with Voloshyn Gallery curated by Omar López-Chahoud.

Anastasiia Podervianska’s artistic practice is an attempt to overcome stereotypes about the perception of textiles as decorative and applied women’s handicrafts through its use as a medium of contemporary art.
The stories behind Anastasiia textiles were folk interpretations of biblical stories and legends about the creation of the world.
Anastasiia combines in her textiles traditional folk motifs with the decor of the present day: ornaments with modern prints and memes.
With Transcending Boundaries, the founders and curators of the project aim to expand horizons, open new opportunities, and pave the way for Ukrainian and Mexican artists.
This exhibition shows the connection between Ukrainian and Mexican art, where it creates new complex relationships. The approaches of the authors complement each other, balancing between negation and assertion while going beyond their context.
Thanks to Voloshyn Gallery @voloshyngallery for the support in this project.
